When to Change Out Tyres
We recommend Crawley, Gatwick, Horley and Horsham motorists take the time each week to give their tyres a brief inspection. Serious damage in the form of cuts, bumps and bulges near or around the walls of your tyres should be cause for concern.
Likewise, a lack of tread depth is a good reason to change your tyres. 1.6mm is the UK legal minimum, and you can test to see if your tyres have enough depth by inserting a 20p into your tread. Place it in outer edge first, and if you can see the inner edge at any point, it’s probably time to invest in a new set. Keep in mind tread depth is of vital importance when it comes to stopping distance, so it’s not just an arbitrary rule that you need to abide by.
Your tyres also need to be inflated to the right pressure – that recommended in your service book – for them to be 100% safe to drive on.
